TEHRAN – The health ministry will observe the national men’s health week from February 20 to 26 to raise awareness on the importance of men's health among the public and policymakers.

National men’s health week to be marked

This year, the week will be held with the theme of ‘accidents threatening men’s health’.

Each day of the week focuses on a specific topic, as follows.

Friday, February 20, ‘Men’s health, observing safety in living environment’

Saturday, February 21, ‘Men’s health, observing safety in driving and maintaining road safety’

Sunday, February 22, ‘Men’s health, safety in working environment’

Monday, February 23, the topic will be announced based on each university’s top priority.

Tuesday, February 24, ‘Men’s health, behavioral safety (elimination of risky health behaviors, drug abuse)’

Wednesday, February 25, ‘Men’s health, conscious choices toward health’

Thursday, February 26, ‘Men’s health, observing safety in sports.’

Traffic-related accidents claimed the lives of 10,097 Iranians during the first six months of the current Calendar year (March 20-September 21, 2025), which marks a decrease of 618 deaths compared with the same period last year, IRNA reported.

About 62 percent of the accidents are attributed to private vehicles; cars and motorcycles accounted for 25 percent each, vans for 6 percent, trucks for 5 percent, and public transportation for 1 percent of the accidents.

In Iran, pedestrians account for 16 percent of victims of all accidents. Their share reaches 24 percent in inner-city areas, and 8 percent on roads.

Men’s self-care app

In February 2025, the health ministry developed the first men’s self-care application utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).

The application aims to address men’s problems in referring to medical centers since most of them are at work when the centers are providing services, IRNA quoted Alireza Raeisi, an official with the health ministry, as saying.

The health ministry is also planning to design a self-care application, using AI and modern technologies, for the top ten widespread diseases among women. Registering their information in the app, they will be able to follow up on their health issues, Raeisi added.

The official went on to say that the health ministry has already designed a virtual training program for the prevention and treatment of different diseases, including breast, colon, and prostate cancers. Currently, the pilot program is being implemented in the city of Qom; it is planned to be implemented nationwide in the next Iranian calendar year, which will start on March 21.
