Pompeo boasts of ‘lots of help’ provided to Iran’s deadly riots
TEHRAN — Mike Pompeo, the former U.S. Secretary of State and CIA director, has provided a rare public admission that Washington orchestrated the recent wave of deadly unrest and terror attacks across the Islamic Republic.

In an interview with Israel’s Channel 13, he effectively confirmed that the violence was not a domestic phenomenon but a product of a sophisticated foreign machine designed to impose “regime change.”
Addressing claims that the West failed to capitalize on the unrest, Pompeo boasted that significant covert intervention had been deployed.
“Help did come, lots of help,” he stated, adding a layer of deliberate ambiguity: “You may not see all of it, and we may not know about all of it, but I’m very confident that the United States is actively trying to do all that it can to support Iranians.”
In the early days of January, Pompeo explicitly referenced “Mossad agents walking” in the streets of Iran in a provocative post on X, and identified Mashhad, Tehran, and Zahedan as primary targets for subversion.
Pompeo, a leading architect of the first Trump administration’s maximum pressure campaign, has long advocated regime change in Iran and maintained ties to the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK/MKO) organization, addressing their gatherings and endorsing their activities.
Similar provocations have come from other American and Israeli officials. U.S. President Donald Trump has issued threats of intervention and aggression against Iran, while Israeli officials have repeatedly backed efforts to destabilize Iran.
“He explicitly told the rioters, ‘Go ahead, I’m coming [to help],” the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said Sunday, regarding Trump’s statements.
Iranian officials have stated that the unrest, especially on January 8 and 9, was meticulously planned by the United States and Israel to sow chaos through proxies and armed elements.
Officials have described the violence that led to the death of over 3100 Iranians as part of sustained hybrid warfare.
